This Privacy Policy is a product draft prepared for Hoop Sim (hoopsim.xyz). It has not been reviewed or approved by legal counsel. We may update it as the product and our practices evolve.

Who we are

Hoop Sim is a simulated fantasy basketball league product at hoopsim.xyz. You draft a roster once, run full seasons through our simulation engine in minutes, and review standings and results — the core early-access loop is draft → bulk season simulation → results.

Hoop Sim is entertainment software, not a sportsbook or gambling product. We do not hold league buy-ins, prizes, or payments between users.

Information we collect

Account information: When you create an account, we collect identifiers and profile details needed to sign you in and operate your leagues (for example email and display name). Authentication is handled through Convex Auth.

Gameplay and league data: Rosters, drafts, simulated seasons, standings, and related league settings are stored on our backend (Convex) so you can resume leagues and view results.

Billing information: If you subscribe to a paid plan (GM), payment processing is handled by Polar. We receive subscription status and plan identifiers needed to unlock paid features; we do not store full card numbers on Hoop Sim servers.

Communications: If you receive marketing or account email from us, delivery is handled through Resend. We may log sends, opens, and bounces as part of normal email operations.

Analytics on this marketing site: We use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights on hoopsim.xyz to understand page performance and aggregate traffic. The web app at app.hoopsim.xyz may use similar tooling for its own origin.

How we use information

We use the information above to provide and improve Hoop Sim, authenticate users, run simulated leagues, process subscriptions, send product and account email, respond to support requests, and protect the service from abuse.

We do not use Hoop Sim to facilitate gambling, pooled prizes, or payments between players.

Sharing and processors

We rely on service providers to operate the product, including Convex (backend and database), Convex Auth (authentication), Polar (subscription billing for GM; Legend checkout is not yet available), Resend (transactional and marketing email), and Vercel (hosting and analytics on the marketing site). These providers process data on our behalf according to their own terms and policies.

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users and the service.

Retention and security

We retain account and league data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, comply with law, and resolve disputes. You may request account deletion through in-app support; some records may persist in backups or logs for a limited period.

We use industry-standard measures appropriate to a web application, but no system is perfectly secure.

Your choices

You can update certain profile fields in the app. Marketing email may include unsubscribe links where applicable. Paid GM features require an active subscription through Polar.

For CAN-SPAM compliance, the physical mailing address printed in Hoop Sim marketing emails is the authoritative address for this product. We do not publish a separate street address on this website.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of Hoop Sim after an update means you accept the revised policy.
